I have never been a fan of sodium laurel sulfates or any of the derivatives of chemically produced soap. When in search for a direct source of Shea Butter, produced in west Africa, I found in so doing that black soap kept coming up. Once finding a reputable, fair trade company, they sent me a pound of black soap. They said that it was approximately 48% shea butter and the saponifier was that of a palm oil and plantain ash variety. I thought I’d give it try. Wow, not bad but a little gritty and definitely dirty. This soap, like shea butter is handmade by women’s cooperatives, usually in crude outdoor areas. In the earlier years I would find shea butter shells, twigs and rocks mixed inside. I would double sometimes triple strain the material to purify it.
The Sacred Soap is intended to cleanse without stripping the skin’s delicate balance as it leaves you refreshed.
Using both local and far harvested botanicals made into hydrosols, along with the right amount of essential oils, the Sacred Soap offers the perfect balance of cleanse and moisture.
I do not formulate for aroma, but for effect, however, as often happens we get many users addicted to the smell, many convinced it has ginger in it, which it does not.
It’s a thinner soap, as we do not use emulsifiers to bind it, I believe this is one of the purest soaps on the market and that uses NO lye!

I have spent many hours in the ocean, waiting for waves, or just walking along the shore feeling the sand, seaweed, and water beneath my feet. The ocean has a revitalizing effect on us without question. Taking up 70% of our planet, we have a symbiotic cord with all that it has to offer.
Hot springs have their own therapeutic qualities through mineral absorption and heat. I have visited many and find their cleansing, detoxifying ability invaluable.
Comprising a bath that possessed all the elements of both these therapies and natural wonders was the end goal in the development of the Seaweed Bath. I wanted an alternative to what was being offered. As a long time user of seaweeds, and with knowledge of their curative and restorative effects on radiation, the development of a bath to harness such properties was imminent.
As an aromatherapist, I wanted to assist the continuation of therapeutic release with an essential oil blend-- Not just any essential oil blend, but one that would rival any “scented” bath salt by using a therapeutic dose.

Seaweed Mask: Mix Seaweed Powder with Lavender Hydrosol to a creamy consistency and apply with brush or fingertips. Suggested measurements: Mix 3/4 scoop of Seaweed Powder to approximately 1 scoop Lavender Hydrosol.
We recommend first massaging in Rosemary & Geranium Créme Cleanser to leave on under mask for blemished skin.

After launching the Benedetta line in February 1996, with exactly 9 authentic preparations, a facial mask was not among them.
We slowly integrated into selling to estheticians and they were the ones that requested that we create a clay mask of sorts. I initially felt that our Rosemary & Geranium Cleanser was all anyone needed to achieve many of the attributes one expected from a clay mask. In fact, there is some clay in that cleanser. Leaving the cleanser on for 20 minutes while massaging congested areas is very exfoliating.
I felt that clay was far to stripping for the skin and would be counterproductive in bringing the skin into balance. I resisted until I was given a pound of some sea veggies that had been micronized (made into flour). Not complete, I added some others, along with Blue green algae, and voila, a Non-Clay Anti-Aging Facial Mask was born. Made fresh with Lavender Hydrosol, you can customize the viscosity to suit your skin.
I am not one to follow trends and run wild with one ingredient as the magic bullet to all your skin care needs. It is not only a system of skin care preparations that work together that matters, but the synergies and collaborative ingredients that form a product.
Benedetta’s Anti-Aging and Anti-wrinkle Seaweed Mask is unique in composition and is suited for most all skin *conditions.
